Interesting Facts About the International Poultry Expo
  • The expo has been held in Atlanta, Ga., for the past 61 years.
  • The show is the world's largest display of technology, equipment, supplies, and services used in the production and processing of poultry and eggs and for those involved in the feed manufacturing.
  • All segments of the industry are represented: feed milling, hatchery, live production, processing, further processing, marketing, and all support activities.

1998
1998"Meeting the Challenge for 50 Years" was the theme of the 50th annual International Poultry Exposition. This year, the show celebrated 50 years of serving the poultry and egg industry through the great products and services International Poultry Exposition exhibitors provide. Attendance was high for this show. More than 26,000 attendees journeyed to Atlanta for the event. The 1998 exposition featured three historical displays showcasing photographs and artifacts of yesterday's poultry industry.

1999
1999 "Leading the Way" was the theme for the 51st annual International Poultry Exposition. This show was another success for the poultry and egg industry. Nearly 26,000 people from more than 100 countries came to Atlanta to participate in the show. The 1999 exposition marked the first time the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association handled all facets of registration. It also marked the debut of the banner program and online registration.

2000
2000 The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association chose the theme "Shaping the Future" for the 2000 International Poultry Exposition. This show was the 52nd annual show and drew large crowds from all over the world. Approximately 24,500 people from 46 states and more than 110 countries visited the exposition. This year was also the inception of the on-site tram system. The trams transport visitors up and down the aisles of the show floor. It continues to move tired attendees to their destination. The first International Poultry Scientific Forum was held prior to the 2000 International Poultry Exposition.

2001
2001 "Focusing on the Future" was the theme carried throughout the 53rd annual International Poultry Exposition. Over 22,000 people attended the show and an estimated one in five guests was from an international location. Exhibitors in the show were eligible for the first Crystal Egg Awards. These awards honor marketing excellence. This show also marked the first time attendees could reserve hotel rooms by phone, fax, mail, and online.

2002
2002 The 54th annual International Poultry Exposition employed the theme "Connecting the World." This show drew nearly 19,000 participants from 50 states, Puerto Rico, and 88 countries. Several companies reached a milestone at the 2002 exposition, with 50 years exhibiting at the show, and were honored at the expo. They included: Altenpohl Sales Company, Beacon Products, Chick Master, Diamond Systems, and Schering-Plough Animal Health/ASL. The first Family Farm Environmental Excellence Awards were distributed in a special ceremony at the 2002 show. In addition, the Latin American Poultry Hall of Fame visited the International Guests Center.

2003
2003The 55th annual International Poultry Expo chose the theme "Leading Into the Future." This theme was appropriate due to the show moving into the new Phase IV expansion of the Georgia World Congress Center. The show utilized Buildings B and C of the Georgia World Congress Center. Visitors came from 49 states, the District of Colombia, and 86 countries to see and buy the latest products and services for the poultry and egg industry from 880 exhibitors. There were 15,762 domestic attendees and 3,411 international guests. The 2003 International Poultry Exposition had a special guest appearance by Secretary of Agriculture Ann Veneman. Veneman spoke to attendees as part of the educational program; she announced that the Bush administration will propose an agriculture budget for the 2004 fiscal year that includes a 20 percent increase in spending for food safety.

2004
2004The 56th Annual International Poultry Exposition ushered in 18,140 visitors to Atlanta . Of those, 14,687 domestic attendees from 48 states, Puerto Rico and 89 countries attended. Additionally, 3,453 were international visitors. Nearly 900 exhibitors from around the world displayed goods and services at the show.

2005
2005 The 57th annual International Poultry Exposition chose the theme "Changes and Challenges." The 2005 International Poultry Exposition welcomed nearly 18,763 attendees from around the world during the three-day-event, held Jan. 26-28 in Atlanta, Ga. The domestic total of 15,147 represented 47 states and Puerto Rico. International attendees, numbering 3,616, came from 96 countries. They came to network, attend cutting-edge educational programs, and to research and buy the latest products and services from 834 exhibitors.

Funds earned at the exposition are funneled directly back into the industry in the form of research grants, educational programs, and promotional activities.

2006

2006The 58th Annual International Poultry Expo welcomed over 18,000 attendees from around the world during the three-day-event, held Jan. 25-27 in Atlanta, Ga. The U.S. industry showed up in force with 14,976 attendees. On the international side, 3,043 people traveled to Atlanta from 93 countries. Forty-nine states plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico were represented.

The first International Reception was held Wednesday, Jan. 25, after the closing of the show. More than 1,000 attendees were treated to complimentary hors d' oeuvres and beverages and live entertainment.

2007
2007 The 59th annual International Poultry Expo welcomed nearly 20,000 attendees from around the world during the three-day-event, held Jan. 24-26 in Atlanta, Ga. The domestic total of 15,668 included the United States, District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. A total of 3,977 international attendees came from 90 countries.

This was the first year that the International Feed Expo, sponsored by the American Feed Industry Association, was co-located at IPE.

The U.S. Commercial Service’s International Buyer Program also made its debut at IPE/IFE 2007. International delegations from China, Venezuela, Egypt, and the Dominican Republic were welcomed to further the poultry industry in their home countries.

2008
2007 The 60th annual International Poultry Expo welcomed over 20,000 attendees from around the world during the three-day-event, held Jan. 23-25 in Atlanta, Ga. The domestic total of 16,043 included the United States, District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. A total of 3,986 international visitors were in attendance.
