Crystal Egg AwardThe Crystal Egg awards are designed to recognize excellence in the production and distribution of marketing materials designed to promote an exhibitor’s participation in the 2008 International Poultry Expo and International Feed Expo. The award is based on overall effectiveness, which includes design, communications content, and achievement of predetermined sales or marketing goals.

One first place and up to two honorable mentions may be selected in each category at the judges’ discretion. Each winner and honorable mention will receive a trophy.

Entry into the competition is FREE.

    Categories:
  • * Print Advertising (Newspaper, magazine or billboard advertising)
  • * Brochure/Flyer/Invitation/Postcard
  • * Poster
  • Advertising Specialty (Clothing, mugs, pens, etc.)
  • * Press Kit (Kit targeted at trade or consumer press)
  • * Writing (News or feature article, direct mail letter, etc.)
  • * Special Event
  • * Overall Booth (Please provide video and/or photographs)
  • * Promotional Campaign (Multiple items that are part of a single campaign) A campaign entry should consist of no more than eight pieces. Additional pieces may be described, but not mailed with the entry.

  • *Entries submitted in these categories should be mounted on a black mat display board. If entering the Promotional Campaign category, one sample of each piece should be mounted on one board, if possible. If more than one board is used for this category, please mark your board with your company name and 1 of 2, 2 of 2, etc.

    *Please provide a translation for any non-English entries.

    Eligibility/Rules:

  • Only 2008 International Poultry Expo and International Feed Expo exhibitors in good standing are eligible. Entries must have been produced specifically for use with the 2008 Show. Representatives of firms serving as contractors to the exhibitor (printing companies, design firms, public relations agencies, etc.) are not eligible to submit entries in their name. The entry must be submitted by an employee of the exhibitor.
  • Exhibitors may submit no more than one entry in each category; however, exhibitors may enter as many categories as they like. Each submission requires a separate entry form. Feel free to photocopy the entry form.
  • Each entry must be accompanied by a statement of purpose and results. This includes the following criteria: objective, target audience, strategies and tactics/implementation, budget, and results and measurement techniques. This summary may not exceed 500 words and must be typed on an 8 1/2 x 11-inch sheet of white paper.
  • Choose the most appropriate category. Judges cannot transfer entries to other categories. It is possible that an entry could be appropriate for more than one category.
  • The entry form must be typewritten or printed clearly and attached securely to the entry.
  • Entries will not be returned. Package entries carefully, as the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association will not be responsible for lost or damaged entries.
  • Except in the Overall Booth category, only original entries will be accepted (no photocopies).
  • Deadline:
    All entries must be received (not postmarked) in the U.S. poultry & Egg Association office by April 30, 2008. Entries received after that date will not be judged. No faxes will be accepted.

    Judging:
    Each entry will be judged by experts from outside the association. Judges are not required to give awards if no entries qualify. The decision of the judges is final.

    Waiver:
    Entry into this competition grants the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association and the American Feed Industry Association the right to display your entry at future IPEs/ IFEs and to create reproductions of your entry for publicity/educational purposes surrounding the competition.

    Notification of Winners:
    Winners and non-winners will be notified by mail and/or e-mail. Awards will be presented at a special awards ceremony at the 2009 International Poultry Expo and International Feed Expo.

    Winners Benefits:
    Crystal Egg statues will be presented to the winners; honorable mentions will receive a plaque. Winners will be recognized in Expo Flash, and other promotional materials produced by the associations. Winners also will be recognized on the International Poultry Expo Web site, www.ipe09.org. USPOULTRY will also notify the press of winners.
